On Tuesday, Robach and Holmes came clean about what life was like after their affair scandal broke in 2022 and the true relationship between the two was finally clear. During their podcast, Amy & T.J., Robach recalled how Holmes spiraled.
What Did T.J. Holmes Tell Amy Robach?
She was so concerned about his behavior that Robach called police to perform a welfare check on the man she was in love with.
"We got to a point... where you were in a pretty dark spot," Robach said to Holmes. "A pretty dark space."
The dark space came after Holmes started to text Robach in "past tense" form.
"I'm sorry, you were the love of my life," the text message from Holmes to Robach read. "I'm so sorry this has happened."
Robach went on to explain, "I start to panic. I was so afraid that he had done something."
"When I was sending them to you, I didn't know how I was sounding," Holmes stated. "I'm not sure where my head was at that time."
When Holmes was sending the text messages to Robach, he admitted that the day the scandal broke, once he left work he "immediately started pounding vodka."

Amy Robach and TJ Holmes are living their best lives together despite not being able to find another career opportunity after their scandal.
"I didn't stop for several hours," Holmes said. "I took who knows how many weed edibles, and that's how I ended up in the state I was in."
Robach responded, "That combination was terrifying. You weren't moving and I'll never forget that night."
However, while Holmes was dealing with the affair coming to light with alcohol and drugs, Robach too was suffering. So much so, that she admitted she did not know if she wanted to live.
Amy Robach Was Not In A Good Place Mentally Last Year
Despite the fact that Robach and Holmes were in love with one another, the way that their affair scandal played out in the media was nothing close to ideal. As such, Robach was concerned about how Holmes was dealing with the media portrayal of him. However, she too was struggling. So much so, that Robach did not know if she wanted to be alive.
"You go through cancer, and, yes, you're afraid to die, but you're fighting to live," Robach explained, according to Entertainment Tonight . "And you've got all these people around you, supporting you and cheering you on, and you feel this collective hug from people who are lifting you up when you're scared and you're going through all of these treatments. But this year, I wanted to die. There were days where I wanted to die and that was something I'd never experienced before in my life. I just didn't want to get up. I didn't want to see what new headline was going to be out there."

How The Affair Scandal Broke Between Amy Robach And T.J. Holmes
Rumors of Robach and Holmes having an affair had been swirling starting around March 2022. However, the chemistry between the two had been noticeable well before that, according to staff members at Good Morning America. But, the affair could no longer be denied when The Daily Mail published 65 photos of Holmes and Robach together as they spent a weekend together in upstate New York.
In the photos, the couple was seen holding hands and getting into an Uber together. After the photos break, Robach and Holmes admit they are a couple and are seen the next month, again, photographed by The Daily Mail in Georgia and then Florida together.
Since that time, the two divorced their former spouses and have moved forward with their lives.
"It has been the most beautiful relationship I have ever had in my life," Robach said on the podcast, per Entertainment Tonight.
